Dr alastair nisbett
Director of the Cybersecurity Research Laboratory
Alastair Nisbet’s primary research areas are in computer security & computer forensics. After serving as a Police Officer in New Zealand for 14 years, he earned university degrees in business, education and law along with a PhD in computer security. Alastair is passionate about education and computing with a focus on cybersecurity & forensics. He is currently the Director of the Cybersecurity Research Laboratory and is responsible for the Master of Information Security and Digital Forensics where he is actively involved in lecturing and designing hands-on practical laboratories teaching security & forensics skills and knowledge.

Professor Aman Oo
Professor Aman Oo is currently Dean of Engineering and Head of School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at Auckland University of Technology. Previously, he was the Dean and Head of School of Engineering at Deakin University Australia. He is a professor of Electrical Engineering and has made significant research contributions in the area of electrical power engineering and renewable energy, engineering education and published more than 300 scholarly articles in the peer reviewed high impact journals, books, and conference proceedings.
Aman has research interests and expertise in Microgrid & energy storage system integration, hydrogen, smart grid communication, power system stability and control, energy management and efficiency, protection and security of smart grids, sustainable operation and control of microgrids as well as in Engineering Education.
He has supervised more than 20 PhD students to completion and is currently supervising several PhD students in the area of electrical power engineering and renewable energy engineering. Aman has been actively working with several international and national professional communities and industries. He is sought worldwide to deliver keynote addresses and presentations at workshops and conferences.

Professor andrew luxton-reilly
Andrew Luxton-Reilly is a Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Auckland, where he has taught introductory programming courses for more than 20 years. His research is in Computer Science Education, focusing on assessment of novice programmers, novice programmer comprehension, gender equity in Computer Science, and tools that facilitate collaborative learning.
Associate Professor Ewan Tempero
Ewan Tempero is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Auckland. He teaches introduction to object-oriented design, as well as other courses in software engineering. His research interests include automating feedback and assessment of student code.
Christopher Mende
Christopher is the engineering lead for Google Cloud’s Digital Native and Corporate customers. He also works across APAC businesses to harness Google's expertise in AI and Analytics. He is closely involved with businesses creating a pathway for their journey to Cloud and AI. His work is showcased across several industries and various geographies across the world.
Christopher is a member of the Innovation Labs team which brings concepts to life using a Google methodology of value engineering heavily focused on customer empathy. His work here involves marrying the best of Google tech with market shaping concepts to move the needle on an organization's innovation journey. At home in his maker studio, Christopher builds concepts that blur the line between real and virtual worlds using AI.

DR Diana Kirk
Diana is a Research Fellow with the School of Computer Science at the University of Auckland. Her background includes 17 years in the software industry (C programming, software process design, software quality management and consulting) and 15 years in academia. Her main interests are software development practices, software code quality and computer science education.
Professor Frances joseph
Frances Joseph is Professor of Material Futures in the School of Future Environments and Director of the Textile and Design Lab at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. Her research focus on materiality and textility includes areas of intra-active textiles, bio-based materials, local production systems and material ecologies.

Before Google, he was at IBM, as the Chief Design and Technology Officer for NZ and was previously the NZ Head of Artificial Intelligence, where he established and grew the IBM Watson business. He was part of IBM's Global Top Talent, and sat on the Worldwide panel for Product Futures.
Isuru has co-founded a start-up that went onto a successful acquisition. Isuru holds Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees where he spent his time pushing the boundaries of theory and practice and is an Adjunct Advisor at a number of Universities and academic research groups, and a member of the Embedded Systems and Robotics research group at the University of Auckland. Isuru is also a founding Board Member of the AI Forum and is an Advisor to the World Economic Forum on AI Ethics and Human Centred Design.

Jim Buchan
Jim started his career as a secondary school teacher and has had a variety of careers after that, including working in the IT industry, running his own Environmental Engineering company, and a polytechnic and university lecturer in Business and Computing.
His area of teaching and research is now Software Engineering, and over the last decade he has particularly focused on how the Agile way of working works, and when and why. He loves teaching at all levels from undergraduate to PhD and was the proud recipient of two teaching awards in the past three years. He is the Co-Director the Software Engineering Research Lab at AUT.

Dr john Flackett
Dr. John Flackett is head of AiLab; a global company headquartered in Australia providing Artificial Intelligence education programs and research. John is also the AI Specialist in Residence and AI Ambassador for Auckland University of Technology, where he has also recently launched an ‘AiLab at AUT’ at the university. John has been working in AI for over 25 years and is an international AI speaker, educator, and advisor. With a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, John has received various awards and spent 10 years as a senior university academic teaching AI and Software Engineering in the UK. Additionally, John is one of the Australia AI Collective’s founding directors; a NFP committed to championing a national AI industry, as well as the co-founder of Adelaide AI – the largest AI networking community in South Australia.
Dr Mahsa MOhaghegh
Dr Mahsa Mohaghegh is the Director of Women in Technology and a Senior Lecturer at AUT’s School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. With a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, she is heavily involved in researching and developing high-level AI strategy in contexts such as the future of work and digital disruption. She is on the Executive Council for AI Forum, and is a board member of NZ Tech representing government and education, and on their sub-board for diversity and inclusion. She is also a board member of Variety – the Children’s Charity, an organisation dedicated to supporting children and young people in need across New Zealand. She is an external technical advisor on AI strategy to a few New Zealand SMEs. Mahsa is also the founder and director of charitable trust She Sharp, which aims to encourage more girls to study STEM fields. Her passion for promoting careers in technology to young women has been widely recognised, and she has received a number of nominations and awards for her efforts, including the Emerging Leader Award at the NZ Women of Influence Awards in 2013. She was one of ten finalists for the 2018 Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year. In 2019 she was the Champion Award winner of the YWCA Equal Pay awards, and in 2020 presented with the Massey University Distinguished Alumni Award for community service.
Rosie Sue
Rosie Sue is Adobe’s New Zealand-based Solution Consultant. For over four years Rosie has worked closely with the country's largest organisations, fostering creativity and inspiring best practice design workflows. Rosie is Adobe’s NZ primary technical resource supporting Adobe’s applications in Creative Cloud including Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, InDesign and Premiere Pro. She works with Adobe’s customers, and with the internal marketing teams to ensure customers are maximising benefits and value realised from their Adobe investment. Her engagements can be highly technical in nature and presentations are always designed to inspire and delight, with a focus on customers specific use cases and needs.
Tanya Gray
Tanya has been building web apps which allow people to create and communicate with AI digital humans for the last 2 years.
Web development is her day job, but introducing others to programming is one of her favourite things to do outside of work. Tanya has a long history of working with teachers and students, usually focusing on web technology such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python.

Tyne Crow
Tyne Crow is a Teaching Fellow and Doctoral Candidate in the School of Computer Science at the University of Auckland. He teaches introductory programming and web technologies. His research interests relate to introductory programming and curriculum implementation of computer science in schools.
Professor Welby ings
Welby Ings is a Professor in Design at Auckland University of Technology. He is an elected Fellow of the British Royal Society of Arts and has been a consultant to many international organisations on issues of creativity and learning. Welby is also an internationally acclaimed author, designer, illustrator, and film maker who has taught at all levels of the New Zealand school system. He has supervised over 80 Masters and PhD theses that explore through practice, relationships between emerging technologies and creative inquiry. His widely acclaimed book Disobedient Teaching became influential in reimaging teaching and learning in New Zealand and in 2018 he was appointed to the Guardian's Group overseeing the National Conversation on education. In 2001 Welby was awarded the Prime Minister’s inaugural, Supreme Award for Tertiary Teaching Excellence and in 2014 he was awarded the AUT University medal for his contributions to research, pedagogy and creativity.
